11-12pm: State of the Creators Economy: How Creator’s Survive and Thrive Through the 3 E’s (Exploitation, Extraction & Erasure)
Creators are the new athletes. People connect with authentic stories and brands have learned that these stories hold great value when products and perspectives are being shaped. In an abundance of unlimited content and opportunities for brand partnerships, we must ensure that diverse and inclusive storytelling is at the forefront and creators who produce this content understand the business of it all.
Diverse and equity in storytelling are key pillars of what drives the content and creative supply chain at Paramount. Paramount recognized the media’s influence and launched a campaign – Content for Change – started by BET under Scott Mills leadership that expanded to a company wide initiative to shape cultural and community values. Content for change exists to counteract bias on- and off-screen to transform how the world sees people — and help to create a more equitable society.
The Content for Change team brings together a collective group of amazing creators and industry executives to have a real conversation on the state of the creators economy to help creators/artists avoid brand exploitation and erasure – and instead, understand the value of their brand to impact the future of content creation. Panelists include:
Moderator: Melissa C. Potter, Vice President Strategy and Impact at Paramount
Karl Carter, CEO and Founder, Snake Nation
Twanna Harris, CEO, Tribal Good
Derrick Johnson, President of the NAACP
Kenya Parham, Global Vice President of Community and Partnerships, SPILL
Alexis Kerr, Vice President of the Mahogany Brand, Hallmark Card, Inc.
2-3pm: Say it Loud: The Power of Authentic Storytelling and How Narrative Shapes the Culture
The power in our different lived experiences connects us and is elevated when we create spaces where those diverse and inclusive narratives are seen, felt and heard. It’s important for us to ensure that content reflects the world we live in today and creators are given the voice to produce authentic stories that help shape and impact the culture.

4-5pm: Secure the Bag: Tips and Resources to Help Creators Build Their Financial Future
The saying “mo’ money, mo’ problems” is not only a popular song hook from the 90’s – it’s a reality for some who do not have the access to the right financial education, to help navigate their money and build financial wealth for the future. This also holds true for content creators who are building their brands and those who have established consistent paid partnerships.
Financial education conversations and resources are extremely necessary for content creators across the industry to ensure creators/artists are capitalizing off their content and most importantly, able to sustain a career creating authentic content that helps shape perspectives and change the world.
The Content for Change team brings together an incredible group of financial experts to give creators/artists advice on how to build commerce, protect your brand and continue to create diverse and inclusive content that impacts and shifts the culture and Industry forward.
